Today was our first day in the Siam sandpit in Khorat, Thailand. We started the day of by touring the museum and checking out their collections, in a weird way I felt like I was home. There was a giant warehouse full of fossils ranging from the Permian to Holocene which was truly a sight to behold. I got to see their fossil prep lab and they even had their own fossil casting warehouse where a young man who called himself the "artist" had just finished a mold of a beautifully preserved mandible of an early humanoid found right here in Khorat. We saw many holotypes including a new species of dinosaur that is in press. We then went to the sandpit and within the the hour we found 12 fossils including a scapula, several elephant teeth and a possible tibia. We ended the day by having dinner with the director of micropaleontology and discussed his work on prehistoric pollen, it was a good day to be a paleontologist
